Where did it all start?
I guess you could say it really started in 1988 in my Grandfathers garage listening to his many stories as he lovingly polished his beloved Daimler. One of the things I remember helping him do was apply Hammerite to the underside of the car. He explained that he wanted to protect the underneath like he protected the paintwork with the polish and wax. I guess all the things he said made an impression because fast forward to 2001 when I got my first car (a rather ancient 80's Vauxhall Nova GTE) I painstakingly painted the underside with Hammerite on my parents driveway. I knew Grandad (sadly long dead by then) would've approved.
Fast forward quite a few years and after I developed a treatment for my own Daimler, I got talking to other classic car owners and they wanted it done too, then somehow it became a passion to develop the treatment process we use today, a tried and tested method that we can put a warranty on. We simply don't see cars as disposable commodities to swap in every couple of years! We choose to get the maximum lifespan (and value for money) out of our vehicles. We've been doing this as a business since 2009 and have treated over 1000 vehicles despite only creating a website and doing some light marketing a few years ago.
The underside of a vehicle is so often forgotten about and taken for granted yet more vehicles are scrapped due to structural corrosion than mechanical failures. Don't wait until the MOT Tester can make holes with his hammer, preventative maintenance is always cheaper!
